Getting Started

Create Your Account

Sign up with your email address or use Apple or Google single sign-on. Once registered you can start adding vehicles and uploading receipts right away. The free tier includes one vehicle and three AI analyses per year.

Add Your First Vehicle

From the dashboard tap Add Vehicle. Enter the year, make, model, and optionally the VIN, trim, mileage, and license plate. CarServ uses this information to personalise AI insights and maintenance recommendations.

Upload a Service Receipt

Navigate to a vehicle, then tap Add Record. You can:

  • Take a photo of a paper receipt
  • Upload a photo, PDF, or scanned image from your device
  • Enter details manually if you prefer

Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, and PDF.

Understand AI Analysis

After uploading, CarServ's AI reads the receipt and extracts the shop name, services performed, parts used, costs, mileage, and date. It also flags any concerns, estimates part health, and recommends upcoming maintenance. Each AI analysis counts against your plan's annual allowance.

Vehicles

Store full profiles for every vehicle you own, including year, make, model, VIN, mileage, and a photo. The number of vehicles you can track depends on your subscription tier.

Service Records

Every service event is stored as a rich record containing the date, mileage, shop, services performed, parts used, individual costs, and any notes. Records can be created via AI analysis or entered manually.

AI Receipt Analysis

Upload a photo or PDF of a service receipt. The AI extracts all relevant data, creates a structured service record, flags potential concerns, and estimates the health of replaced parts. Each analysis uses one credit from your annual allowance.

AI Chat

Ask questions about your vehicle in natural language. CarServ's AI assistant has full context of your service history and can answer questions like "When was my last oil change?" or "Is my brake wear normal?"

Cost Tracking

See total spend per vehicle, per category, and per time period. Charts and summaries make it easy to understand where your money goes and plan for future expenses.

Parts Health Monitoring

Based on your service history, CarServ estimates the remaining life of key components such as oil, brakes, tires, battery, and more. Health indicators are shown as percentages so you can plan ahead.

AI Agents

CarServ includes seven specialised AI agents:

  • Maintenance Advisor — predicts upcoming service needs based on mileage and time
  • Cost Analyzer — evaluates whether you are paying fair prices
  • Recall Monitor — checks for active manufacturer recalls
  • Parts Health Tracker — monitors component wear and remaining life
  • Service History Reviewer — spots gaps, patterns, and anomalies
  • Pre-Purchase Inspector — generates a report for potential buyers
  • Warranty Tracker — keeps tabs on active warranties and coverage

Family Sharing

Available on the Family plan and above. Invite family members by email so they can view and manage shared vehicles. Each member retains their own account; shared vehicles appear alongside personal ones.

Fleet Management

The Fleet tier is designed for businesses. Manage up to 200 vehicles, assign team members, perform bulk operations, import vehicles via CSV, and access aggregated cost and maintenance insights.

How to Upgrade

Go to Account > Subscription and choose a plan. On the web you pay via Stripe (credit/debit card). On iOS you pay through Apple In-App Purchase. Both methods unlock the same features instantly.

Apple vs Stripe Payments

If you subscribe through the iOS app, billing is handled by Apple and can be managed in your iPhone's Settings > Subscriptions. If you subscribe on the web, billing is handled by Stripe and can be managed from the CarServ Account page. Subscriptions do not transfer between payment platforms, so stick with the platform where you first subscribed.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time. Your paid features remain active until the end of the current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Free tier. Your data is never deleted — you just lose access to premium features until you resubscribe.

Frequently Asked Questions

CarServ's AI is highly accurate for typed receipts and clean scans. It correctly extracts shop names, services, parts, costs, and dates in the vast majority of cases. Handwritten or heavily damaged receipts may require manual corrections. You can always edit any field after analysis.
CarServ accepts JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, and PDF files. You can take a photo directly from the app or upload an existing file from your device. For best results, ensure the receipt is well-lit and the text is legible.
Yes. After the AI creates a service record, every field is fully editable. You can change the date, mileage, shop name, services, parts, costs, and notes. Your edits are saved immediately.
Upgrade to the Personal plan (3 vehicles), Family plan (10 vehicles), or Fleet plan (200 vehicles). Once upgraded, tap "Add Vehicle" on your dashboard to add more. Each vehicle gets its own complete service history, cost tracking, and AI insights.
When you have used all of your annual AI analyses, you can still add service records manually. To get more analyses, upgrade to a higher tier. Your analysis count resets each year on the anniversary of your subscription start date.
Yes. You can generate a shareable Buyer Report for any vehicle, which creates a professional summary of the full service history. You can also share individual records. Full CSV export is available for fleet accounts.
Yes. CarServ uses Supabase with row-level security, meaning your data is only accessible to you (and anyone you explicitly share it with). All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your personal information or vehicle data.
On the Family or Fleet plan, go to Account and invite family members by email. They will receive an invitation to join your family group. Once accepted, shared vehicles appear on their dashboard alongside their own vehicles. Each person keeps their own login and can also have personal vehicles.
Direct Carfax import is not currently supported. However, you can upload any receipts or records you have as images or PDFs and let the AI extract the information. You can also manually enter historical service records.
Carfax pulls records from third-party databases and charges per report. CarServ is your personal, ongoing service history. You upload your own receipts, and the AI structures and analyses them. CarServ offers proactive maintenance tracking, cost analysis, AI chat, parts health monitoring, and family or fleet sharing — features Carfax does not provide.
No. CarServ processes your receipt with AI to extract the relevant data (date, mileage, parts, costs, services), then discards the original image or PDF. Only the AI-generated summary and structured data are saved to your account. This protects your privacy while keeping your records organized.
Absolutely. The Fleet plan supports up to 200 vehicles and includes team management, bulk operations, CSV vehicle import, and aggregated fleet insights. It is designed for businesses managing company vehicles, rental fleets, or service shops.
Yes. CarServ is available as a native iOS app on the App Store. The web app works on any modern browser and is fully responsive on mobile devices. An Android app is planned for the future.
Before selling, generate a Buyer Report to share verified service history with the buyer. After the sale, you can remove the vehicle from your account or keep it for your records. Removing a vehicle frees up a slot on your plan.
Go to Account > Settings and select "Delete Account." This permanently removes all your data, including vehicles, service records, and uploaded images. If you have an active subscription, cancel it first through your payment provider (Apple or Stripe). This action cannot be undone.

Troubleshooting

AI analysis failed

Make sure the receipt image is clear, well-lit, and not blurry. The file must be under 10 MB. Try re-uploading a higher-quality photo. If the problem persists, the receipt may be handwritten or in a format the AI cannot read — try entering the record manually instead.

Upload issues

Ensure your file is a supported format (JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, or PDF) and under 10 MB. On iOS, check that CarServ has permission to access your photo library or camera. Try restarting the app or switching to a Wi-Fi connection.

Login problems

Double-check your email and password. If you signed up with Apple or Google, use the same sign-in method. Use the "Forgot Password" link to reset your password. If you are still unable to log in, contact support.

Missing vehicles or records

Pull down to refresh your dashboard. If data is still missing, log out and log back in. Ensure you are using the same account you originally registered with. If you used a different sign-in method (e.g., Apple vs email), you may have two separate accounts.

Subscription not updating

After purchasing, allow a few moments for the subscription to activate. On iOS, try restoring purchases from Account > Subscription. If you paid via Stripe on the web, refresh the page. Contact support if your plan still does not reflect after 15 minutes.

Family invite issues

Ensure the person you are inviting has a CarServ account registered with the email address you entered. Check that your plan supports family sharing (Family or Fleet tier). The invite email may end up in the spam folder.

Sync problems

CarServ syncs data in real time. If changes are not appearing, check your internet connection. On the iOS app, try force-closing and reopening. On the web, do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R). Data should sync automatically once connectivity is restored.

Browser compatibility

CarServ works best in the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. If you experience display issues, update your browser. Internet Explorer is not supported. For the best experience on mobile, use Safari on iOS or Chrome on Android.
